Breaktime - Founded in 2018, Breaktime’s mission is to break the cycle of homelessness by equipping young adults with the job and financial security they need to establish housing security.
Breaktime’s core program is a three-part supported transitional employment program that utilizes partnerships to empower young adults at risk/experiencing housing insecurity. This includes 3 weeks of work readiness training and financial education, 3 months of paid job placement at a local nonprofit or business, and 3 years of continued wraparound career, academic, housing, and financial support services.
The Breaktime model is uniquely and intentionally designed to support young adults to access high-quality, in demand job opportunities while equipping them with the skills, financial knowledge, and support necessary for them to acquire long-term stable housing.

FamilyAid Boston - Founded in 1916, and initially called the Travelers Aid Society, FamilyAid Boston (FAB) is the largest agency focused solely on homeless families in Boston, providing prevention, emergency shelter, housing supports, and comprehensive case management to more than 2,600 children and parents annually, and hundreds of thousands since its inception. Since COVID struck, FAB also now provides humanitarian relief to all our clients, supplying food, diapers and other essentials weekly, as well as educational supplies and financial support to parents, most of whom are now unemployed.
FAB, who is the largest provider of private funding to prevent family homelessness in Greater Boston, has recently enrolled more than 1000 unstably housed children and parents into an innovative new homeless prevention program. Boston’s leading institutions are now working directly with FAB on this program to stem the city’s rising tide of family homelessness, including Boston Public Schools, Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center, City of Boston’s Department of Neighborhood Development, Boston Housing Authority and the United Way. With these partners, FamilyAid Boston empowers parents and caregivers facing homelessness to secure and sustain housing and build strong foundations for their children’s futures.
